Workin' for the weekend.

I was watching a show on TV about airshows last night, which is fitting because we went to the airshow this weekend not once but twice. It was really cool and reinforced how neat it would be to get my pilot's liscense. It also reinforced the idea that I'd probably just get myself killed in the meantime, so I should probably just hold off on that one.
April was on call Friday night, so Saturday was a really lazy day. I got to hang out with Abbi quite a bit. It's nice in a way playing single parent with her. I always learn new little things about her, and feel much closer to her when the day is over. April came home from work early and we had breakfast together, but she left shortly thereafter and got her hair done at the beauty school. This is cheaper than Jaime, the gay mexican male hairdresser, who usually does her hair in a flash. However, it's a teaching thing, so it winds up being a half-day's activity. At any rate, she came home looking very pretty, but she hadn't slept much from the previous day, so she crashed until late afternoon at which point we went to the previously mentioned airshow with the Epperlys and the Kubaczs. We got home late and went for a very late dinner with the Banks, whose inlaws were in town. We fell asleep full and happy late that night.
On Sunday morning we went to church and then re-met the Kubaczs (this time on accident) at the airshow. We sat and ate burritos and watched the craziness overhead. Abigail was content to lay on the blanket and watch in wonder most of the time. The planes and stunts were neato and we got to go to a dumpy little playground afterward with Abbi. She enjoyed the inflatable slide and moonwalk and did a pretty good job spinning April and I on the mini tilt-a-whirl.
When we got home, I worked on our med kit for zimbabwe and then we headed out to see the birds roost in the trees outside of the hospital. It's like something off of the discovery channel but I'm afraid that the birds will wise up to the weather soon, which has cooled off substantially in the past week or so. I carried Abbi on my shoulders as April hid in the VW from the impending bombardment of bird feces.
Probably, the readers of this blog must think all I do is hang out with my family and watch the birds. Ah, not so. I just wrapped up a month of anesthesia, and it was really great. I just had my first day of dental blocks and extactions yesterday and I'm at a local cardiologist's office doing echocardiograms today! But I do look forward to getting home and watching the birds with the girls:)
